Early Life Experience
Early in my
career, I gained valuable insights into the principles of responsibility and accountability
within a large organization. Within this mega organization, I was entrusted
with the autonomy to think independently and make decisions, making me
accountable for the resulting outcomes. Learning these lessons early on
significantly shaped my professional growth. Another crucial aspect that played
a pivotal role in my formative years was the emphasis on providing equal
opportunities for women.
Rising Above Struggles
A pivotal and
demanding period in my professional journey was during my pregnancy. Due to
complications, I had to step away from my job and spent nine months confined to
bed. Re-entering the workforce and securing a position aligned with my
preferences posed a significant challenge. Fortunately, I found an opportunity with
an organization that acknowledged and respected my newfound role as a mother,
granting me the flexibility to balance my personal and professional
responsibilities seamlessly. Despite the obstacles, I persevered through
challenges, expanding my limits to attain the position I hold today.
Defining Moment
A transformative
juncture in my professional trajectory occurred with the transition to the
digital landscape. Embracing the shift, I transitioned from conventional
mainline marketing to delving into the realm of digital marketing. The crux of
my learning experience was on-the-job training, as I immersed myself in the
dynamic domain of Momspresso. Here, I engaged in collaborative efforts with
numerous brands spanning diverse sectors, orchestrating successful revenue-boosting
advocacy campaigns. Despite the absence of formal training, I navigated through
this digital transformation, working with esteemed names such as ITC, HUL,
Canara HSBC Life Insurance, HP, Bata, FabIndia, and more.
Advice for others
Well, I can share
what I follow and maybe that inspires others too
1) I try to bring some significant
differentiation to what I could deliver, over and above what the role required.
2) Performing well and gaining the trust of all
stakeholders alike is a must for me I spend a lot of time thinking about what
is going well on projects and what can be better.
3) I am passionate about my team. I strongly
believe I am as good as the people I hire and lead. I am not afraid to recruit
people who are smarter than me and I create an environment that promotes
diversity of thoughts and embraces collective wisdom to achieve the impossible.
Understanding what makes people work well together, what motivates them to give
their best every day and how I can develop more meaningful connections each
day.
4) Focus is the key we are all stretched and
sometimes we need to ruthlessly prioritize.
Importance of Mentorship
Considering my
unique career journey, mentorship holds exceptional importance. My transition
from traditional to digital marketing, navigating challenges like re-entering
the workforce post-pregnancy, and collaborating with renowned brands showcases
the dynamic nature of my experience. Personally, finding a mentor who provided
tailored guidance played a crucial role. Their insights aligned with my
specific circumstances, accelerating my learning curve, and offering invaluable
support in achieving my unique career goals.
One key takeaway
from my mentor was the importance of continuous learning in the dynamic and
ever-evolving marketing world. Their guidance instilled in me the mindset to
always seek knowledge, adapt to changes, and stay abreast of industry trends.
In essence, mentorship has not only shaped my diverse and impactful
professional journey but has also ingrained in me the commitment to lifelong
learning.
