Crucial Success Skills Forged Through My Journey

Interpersonal Traits & Strengths

  • Leadership Skills : Team building and people management being a core competence: Demonstrated the same in leading the Corporate Research business at CRISIL (the erstwhile Pipal Research business acquired by CRISIL) and then successfully founding and running my own venture – Enroute Consulting for close to a decade now with a totally remote team across global locations.
  • Strong Problem Solving Skills with a Sound Business Acumen – That has been the core strength throughout my business development, research, analytics and consulting career.
  • Execution excellence : Service delivery being the forte at CRISIL/Pipal and now Enroute .
  • Content leadership : Mastering it across knowledge and professional services organizations for close to 2 decades now.
  • Excellent Linguistic, Communication and Presentation Skills : Demonstrated throughout my 25 years of experience across 2 innings – a decade of Sales & marketing with orgs like Bennett Coleman (Times Group), ICICI Bank and then Business Intel – Research & Analytics as well as consulting stints for more than 1.5 decades now with brands like Pipal Research, CRISIL, Microsoft, WNS and now my own brand – Enroute Consulting LLP.
  • Extensive Project Management Experience – As vivid as researching the cocoa plantation outlook with the agricultural board of Papua New Guinea for a leading European chocolate brand; to strategic gap analysis viz-a-vis competition for a new product in the bolus insulin market.

Crafting Creative Opportunities from Every Challenge

Adversities are part and parcel of life. I believe in the mantra “fight hai to life hai” I have faced ‘n’ no. of challenges in my career spanning over 2.5 decades with the same spirit of determination (which is the key), never say die attitude and the ability to bounce back. So, for me, it is not about how hard life hits you, it has always been about how quickly you can bounce back!

My Impact

Being a peoples’ person, I have been successful in building cohesive teams across orgs like ICICI Bank, Pipal Research and Enroute Consulting. My open leadership style has been appreciated by others and team members have looked up to me as a mentor. Throughout my 2 decades in the knowledge services space, I have worked to evangelize the importance of Business research and Intelligence – not being a cost-head (as it is widely perceived), but as an important cog in the wheel informing strategic decision-making and increasing ROI for an organization.

Scaling New Heights in Personal and Professional Triumphs

Success to me means the ability to enjoy work as life – if you love what you do, then you do not have to ‘work’ even for a day and there is no need for the term ‘work life’. At the beginning of my career (in the late ‘90s), the career objective on my CV used to read: V.P. @ 36. That was the goal that I had set for myself and I used to evaluate progress every 5 years. I always measure my achievements not in value terms, but, in ‘freedom’ and ‘happiness’ terms.

The Synergy Between My Path and Recognition Values

My career started as an ordinary graduate salesman. I completed 2 PG degrees (MBA and MS) along with my jobs and moved on from product sales & marketing to concept selling, solution selling, consultative selling of Business Intelligence, Research & analytics, as well as consulting services. I believe that my career growth and transitions along the way from a salesman to a knowledge worker and a consultant (trusted advisor) to an entrepreneur in the same domain, perfectly embodies the spirit of the journey to excellence award in the 50 under 50 category.
