Life often throws unexpected challenges at us, shaping our paths in ways we could have never imagined. For me, the journey of a young woman starting off in the world of finance was not just about career progression, but a testament to resilience, ambition, and unwavering dedication.As a teenager at the age of 16, my desire to support my family led me to take up teaching to fund my own education. Little did I know that this humble beginning would set the stage for my future ambitions. Despite the financial constraints, I embarked on the arduous journey of pursuing a Chartered Accountancy course, all while working tirelessly to make ends meet.The road ahead was far from easy. Balancing a demanding job with the rigorous CA course was a daunting task, one that pushed me to my limits. Early mornings, long hours, and relentless determination became my daily companions as I strived to achieve my goals. And when I finally cleared all exams with an All India Rank, the taste of success was sweeter than I could have ever imagined.Entering the world of Investment Banking, a field known for its lack of diversity, presented its own set of challenges. The grueling hours and male-dominated environment tested my resolve, but I stood unwavering in my pursuit of excellence. Despite the unconscious biases and the absence of female role models, I persevered, driven by a deep-seated belief in gender equality.Amidst the professional milestones and accolades, I found solace in my role as an advocate for change. Spearheading initiatives like the Balance ERG and the 'Take Two' returnship program, I aimed to create a more inclusive workplace for women. The impact of these efforts transcended borders, reaching thousands of individuals worldwide and influencing significant policy changes.Through the power of mentorship and genuine conversations, I empowered women to embrace their passions and defy societal norms. The recognition received, such as the All India Women Achiever award and the D&I Business Leader accolade, served as a reaffirmation of the impact I was able to make in the realm of gender equality and diversity.
