I had never truly grasped the essence of Diversity & Inclusion until it crossed my path in a most unexpected way. It was a pivotal moment, back in 2015, when I found myself immersed in a recruitment project seeking a Vice President - Diversity & Inclusion. Little did I know then that this encounter would shape my journey in such profound ways. As a Senior Consultant in a bustling recruitment firm, I was intrigued by this unfamiliar role that beckoned to me. Intrigued, I delved into research, unraveling the layers of what Diversity & Inclusion truly meant. The more I delved, the more captivated I became, drawn to be a part of this narrative in any capacity possible. Raised by a single mother, with a deep-rooted belief in feminism, I recognized the significance of championing for women in the workplace, as well as other marginalized communities. It struck a chord within me, resonating with my own experiences of navigating a world that often marginalizes identities, not just in my home country of India, but across the globe. What truly ignited my passion and resilience were the unwavering support of my mentor, Mr. Ram, and my former colleague, Vidisha Shah. Their belief in me and their encouragement nurtured a newfound confidence within me. It was in their embrace that I found the courage to stand tall and speak out for those whose voices often go unheard. Their mentorship, coupled with my relentless drive to foster change and create a more inclusive world, propelled me forward. Today, as I reflect on my journey, I am grateful for the struggles that shaped me and the victories that strengthened my resolve. It is through adversity that I discovered my purpose, and it is through perseverance that I stand where I am today – a testament to the transformative power of belief, resilience, and unwavering dedication to making a difference. May my story serve as a beacon of hope for those who dare to dream and strive to create a more inclusive and equitable world for all.
