Strategic Advisor, Azimuth GRC

Throughout my career, several key skills have been instrumental in my success. Foremost among these is strategic leadership. At IDFC Bank, I was deeply involved in integrating digital strategies into the core business model, emphasizing that a digital approach should be central, not peripheral, to the organization's strategy. This experience honed my ability to lead organizations through transformative changes. Another critical skill is adaptability. During my tenure at Bank of America, I established and scaled Global Delivery Centres of Expertise, adapting to diverse operational challenges and cultural contexts. This role required me to be flexible and responsive to the evolving needs of a global organization. Mentorship has also been a significant aspect of my journey. I've taken pride in mentoring emerging leaders and advising startups, fostering growth and innovation within the industry. This commitment to developing others has not only contributed to their success but has also enriched my own leadership experience. Lastly, a strong foundation in financial acumen has been essential. With an MBA in Marketing and Finance and a Master's in Commerce, I've been equipped to navigate complex financial landscapes effectively. These educational experiences have underpinned my ability to make informed strategic decisions. In summary, strategic leadership, adaptability, mentorship, and financial expertise have been pivotal in my professional journey, each developed through diverse experiences and continuous learning.Dealing with tough times has been a defining aspect of my leadership journey. Ive always believed that adversity builds resilience and clarity. In challenging situationswhether navigating economic downturns, organizational restructuring, or building a bank from scratchIve learned to remain grounded, focus on fundamentals, and trust the team around me. One of the key ways I deal with difficult situations is by staying calm and maintaining perspective. It's easy to get overwhelmed, but clarity only comes when you create space to think. I prioritize gathering facts, listening carefully, and analyzing the situation before making decisions. Leadership in crisis isnt just about reactingits about guiding with steadiness and intent. During my time at IDFC Bank, launching a completely new-age digital bank involved overcoming legacy thinking, regulatory complexities, and aggressive timelines. What helped was breaking down massive challenges into manageable parts, empowering teams, and communicating constantly. Transparency, especially during uncertainty, builds trust. From my experience at Bank of America and GE Capital, I learned the importance of aligning people during turbulence. Its not just about strategic decisions; its about emotional intelligencerecognizing the fears and motivations of people and responding with empathy and conviction. Over time, Ive realized that the toughest moments often lead to the most growthpersonally and professionally. They test your character, reveal your true values, and ultimately shape your leadership style. I approach each crisis not just as a hurdle, but as an opportunity to evolve, innovate, and emerge stronger than before.I believe the most meaningful impact Ive made has been through building institutions, enabling people, and fostering innovation. In my role at IDFC Bank, I helped launch and scale a modern, digital-first bank that aimed to improve financial accessespecially in underserved rural areas. That work wasnt just about banking; it was about inclusion and empowerment. Across my leadership journey, from Bank of America to GE Capital, Ive prioritized developing people. Mentorship has been a constant themeguiding emerging leaders, helping them grow with confidence, and instilling values of integrity and resilience. Many of those I mentored have gone on to lead transformative initiatives themselves, and I consider their success a reflection of that investment. Now, through my work in the startup and venture ecosystem, I continue to support founders and young businesses. I advise them not just on strategy and growth, but also on purpose and leadership. Im passionate about building ecosystems where people can thrive, ideas can scale, and innovation can serve real needs. Whether its empowering a team, guiding a founder, or shaping inclusive financial solutions, Ive always sought to leave behind something stronger, more resilient, and more meaningful than I found it.One pivotal moment in my journey was the successful launch of IDFC Bank. Being part of the founding leadership team and shaping a digital-first bank from the ground up was both a massive challenge and a defining milestone. We were building more than just an institutionwe were reimagining how banking could serve a broader, more diverse India. Leading key areas like operations, rural banking, and digital strategy, I witnessed our vision translate into tangible impact, especially in underserved communities. That moment, seeing the first branch go live and customers being onboarded seamlessly, was incredibly fulfilling. It symbolized not only professional success but also a sense of purposecreating access and inclusion through innovation. It reaffirmed my belief in the power of bold ideas, strong teams, and values-led leadership. That experience continues to inspire how I approach business, transformation, and community-building today.I define success as creating meaningful impacton people, organizations, and societywhile staying true to ones values. Its not just about titles or financial milestones, but about building something lasting, enabling others to grow, and contributing to a larger purpose. Throughout my career, Ive focused on building institutions, nurturing talent, and driving innovation that serves real needs. Looking ahead, my goal is to continue enabling entrepreneurs, especially in the startup and fintech ecosystems, to build sustainable, purpose-driven businesses. I also aim to invest more time in mentoring the next generation of leadersthose who combine ambition with empathy. Success, for me, is also deeply personal. Its about being consistent in character, resilient in adversity, and generous in sharing knowledge. If I can look back and see that Ive empowered others, built institutions of value, and stayed grounded in integritythats the legacy I strive for.
